COMET Cluster is partner of Greenhull \u201cGreen technologies for the ecological cleaning of biofouling on hulls in the Northern Adriatic Sea\u201d, supported by the Interreg V-A Italy-Slovenia 2014-2020 Cooperation Programme.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

PROJECT OBJECTIVE<\/strong><\/span> | GreenHull aims to solve the problem of pollution in the Programme Area, by defining procedures to control, monitor and manage the cross-border marine waters. \u00a0By developing two pilot green technologies , the purpose is to clean biofouling on boat hulls, thus consequently improving the performance of ships and reducing the introduction of non-indigenous species into the environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

COMET CLUSTER\u2019S ROLE<\/strong><\/span> | COMET Cluster is co-responsible for engineering and prototyping one of the two technologies: an underwater robotic system (ROV) equipped with a sampling unit and cleaning unit to remove biofouling from the hulls.<\/p>\n

COMET, A EUROPEAN-CERTIFIED CLUSTER<\/span><\/h4>\n

In 2018, COMET obtained the following prestigious European-recognised certification: “Cluster Management Excellence Label BRONZE – Striving for Cluster Excellence\u201d<\/strong>. The certification was issued following an interview, conducted by the European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis<\/strong> (ESCA) of VDI\/VDE Innovation, which analysed 36 indicators related to structure, management, services and governance, in addition to contacts, interaction within the cluster and the obtained results.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

The ESCA benchmarking<\/strong> is a strategic tool for assessing the European-level positioning<\/strong> of the COMET Cluster and planning future activities.<\/span><\/p>\n
